COVID-19 Best Practices

This document is to serve as an additional reference to what the PGA of Canada has provided to all of its members in conjunction with national and provincial partners and in consultation with ACUTE Environmental Health & Safety Inc., a leading health and safety firm based in Waterloo, Ont. The complete reference can be found here.

In the event of any conflict between these recommendations and provincial legislation, guidelines or other provincial directions, the provincial documentation will take precedence. It is expected that, as more information and guidance becomes available, these recommendations may be revised to reflect the most current information.

Qualifier Registration

  • Online registration for all Local Qualifiers is available at www.rbcpgascramble.com
  • Clubs are encouraged to provide the ability for participants to pre-pay any green fees online or over the phone

Pre-Qualifier Communication

  • The PGA will provide each competitor with a pre-qualifier email template that will include the following information:
    * additional information may be added by host clubs
    • Given that most facilities are only permitting one rider per cart, players are encouraged to contact the club in advance of their round to pre-book and/or check on availability
    • Players are asked to stay home if they are feeling unwell or showing any symptoms of COVID-19. Players may be asked to declare their health status upon entry to the club
    • Details on how to pre-pay green fees
    • Players will be encouraged to arrive no more than 20-30 minutes before their tee time and will be reminded that punctuality is important to avoid group gatherings
    • What to expect upon arrival (greeter, registration, getting to the first tee, etc)
    • Registration via text or other electronic means is preferred
    • Local Rules and on-course restrictions that will be in place (bunkers, flagsticks, hole modifications, etc) – click here for revised Local Rules for 2020
    • A link to the host venue’s COVID-19 protocols, if applicable

Tee Times

  • Host clubs are encouraged to post available tee times on their Qualifier page (same site as registration) to allow teams to choose their own tee time, as there will not be any shotgun starts in 2020

Scoring

  • Each Team Captain must download the Golf Genius app to their phone and use that as their scorecard; the pre-event email will detail how to enter scores
  • When each hole score has been entered, the team will receive an email to confirm the accuracy of their hole scores

Prizing

  • With the support of our new partner, Titleist, prizes will be supplied for all Local Qualifiers in 2020
  • To limit touchpoints, gatherings and clubhouse traffic, prizes will be sent directly to the winning individual’s address following the Qualifier
